On April 24th the German Anti-Counterfeiting Association (APM), the German Industry Association (BDI), the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and the German Brands Association celebrated the international day of intellectual property in Berlin.
More than 300 guests discussed topics regarding intellectual property in the age of a digital economy with the German minister of justice, Heiko Maas, the EU-Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Günther Oettinger and other politicians, business representatives and scientists. In addition, two Workshops about standardizations, patents and traceability and 3D-Printers as a challenge for trademarks and design rights were held.
The idea of a ‘World Intellectual Property Day’ goes back to an initiative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 and is celebrated on the day, the WIPO-convention came into force.
